THE CALGARY SURGE RE-SIGN 6’7’’ FORWARD FROM TORONTO, ONTARIO, JUSTIN JACKSON

May 02, 2024

MAY 2 – The Calgary Surge have re-signed six-foot-seven forward Justin Jackson for the 2024 season, the team announced Thursday.

Jackson returns to the Surge having recently played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) G-League, averaging 5.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.4 steals, and 15.2 minutes in 9 games played for the Grand Rapids Gold.

While playing a majority of his five-year professional career in the G-League with the Lakeland Magic, Orlando Magic, and Long Island Nets, Jackson brings experience from the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) with the London Lightning.

“We are pleased to have Justin Jackson back for the 2024 season. He was a very important piece to our success last season being the vocal leader in the locker room,” said Surge General Manager Shane James. “With our new offensive philosophy, Justin will thrive being the capable shooter he is. Justin is 100% healthy and had a good season in the NBA G-League this year. We expect that to translate to the CEBL.”

The six-foot-seven forward from Toronto, Ontario attended the University of Maryland from 2016-2018, playing his freshman and sophomore years for the Terrapins where he averaged 10.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.8 blocks, 0.9 steals, and 29.2 minutes in 44 games played in the NCAA.

“I’m beyond excited to get back to work with the family. We have great things coming this year!” said Surge forward, Justin Jackson.

Prior to his time in the NCAA, Jackson attended Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada before transferring to graduate from Hill Academy in Vaughan, Ontario. During his senior year, Jackson was named a First-Team All-Star of the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association.
