April 27, 2023

Calgary, AB – The Calgary Surge are pleased to announce Mayfair Diagnostics as the Official Diagnostic Imaging Provider for Surge players for both the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the team announced Friday.

"Calgary Surge players are among the best athletes in the country, and their well-being is one of our organization's highest priorities," said Surge Vice-Chairman & President, Jason Ribeiro. "Our multi-year partnership with Mayfair Diagnostics will ensure our players receive world-class care from a company with a century-long track record of caring for Calgarians and Western Canadians. We are excited to leverage the power of sport and work with Mayfair to help inspire fans and communities to focus on their health and wellness," continued Ribeiro. This will be one of several health and wellness partnerships the Surge announce in advance of their inaugural season.

Mayfair Diagnostics has been a leader in delivering specialized and diverse medical imaging services since 1911. Mayfair provides screening, diagnostic, and interventional medical imaging across 13 locations in the Calgary area, Saskatoon, and Regina. Each year, its team of experts use state-of-the-art technology to better serve more than 700,000 patients in urban, rural, and remote locations.

“Mayfair Diagnostics is proud to partner with the Calgary Surge as their Official Diagnostic Imaging Provider. Mayfair has a long history of providing medical imaging services to elite athletes and professional sports teams, with a high standard of service and care tailored to their needs. We are delighted to provide these services to the Surge players,” said June Diment, Mayfair Diagnostics’ Vice President of Marketing and Physician Relations.

Surge players will use Mayfair exclusively for any medical imaging they require during the season. Mayfair will also be the presenting partner for the July 22nd home game against the Saskatchewan Rattlers, as well as give back to the community through the club’s Surge ASSIST program. Surge ASSIST is a movement to send thousands of deserving Calgary kids and families to Surge games through a nation-leading partnership with Kids Up Front Calgary.

“At Mayfair Diagnostics, we are committed to improving all our patients’ lives by providing clarity about their health. We are dedicated to giving back to the community and are happy to support the Calgary Surge in their efforts to make basketball accessible to all,” said Diment.

About the Calgary Surge

The Calgary franchise originated as the Guelph Nighthawks in 2018, one of the six founding members of the CEBL. The organization was relocated from the league’s smallest market to Calgary in August 2022 as part of the growing league's business strategy to have teams in Canada’s largest metropolitan areas. Chairman Usman Tahir Jutt and Vice-Chairman and President Jason Ribeiro saw an opportunity to bridge Calgary’s diverse communities together through sport and entertainment and to create a sense of belonging.
