CALGARY SURGE ANNOUNCE INNOVATIVE SPORT MEDICINE CLINIC AS OFFICIAL MEDICAL TEAM PARTNER

June 20, 2023

CALGARY, AB - The Calgary Surge are pleased to announce Innovative Sport Medicine Clinic as their Official Medical Team Partner for their 2023 inaugural season, the team announced Tuesday.

"From the very beginning of this journey, we have been emphatic that player care and well-being would be one of our organization's highest priorities," said Surge Vice-Chairman & President, Jason Ribeiro. "Our partnership with Innovative Sport Medicine leverages the clinic's exceptional medical care and treatment for the benefit of our players and fans. We share Innovative’s deep commitment in removing barriers for underserved patients across Calgary,” continued Ribeiro. To date, the Calgary Surge have announced three health and wellness partners including Mayfair Diagnostics, Fit Kitchen, and now, Innovative Sport Medicine.

Innovative Sport Medicine is a well-versed sports clinic that takes a collaborative approach to care. Each member of their team plays a specific role in your injury journey from the initial assessment and diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation, to return to sport or activity. At each stage, an Innovative Sports Medicine physician or therapist will work with patients to ensure they receive the utmost best care. Sports Innovative offers six key programs to meet the needs of their patients. These six programs include Rapid Access Sports Injury Clinic, Acute Sport Concussion Clinic, Run IQ, Gla:d Arthritis Program, Collaborative Care, and Precision Regenerative Therapy. Innovative’s goal is to see their patients quickly, treat them holistically, and keep them out of the emergency room with long-term solutions to any sports-related injury they have.

“We are so proud to partner with the Calgary Surge as they endeavour upon their inaugural season. From the very first meeting, it was clear that we were aligned in our commitment to reach broader communities. The Calgary Surge have already established a presence in the city with community outreach, and Innovative Sport Medicine has developed programs like its Rapid Access Sport Injury Clinic to remove entry barriers for underserved communities. We look forward to a long and productive partnership,” said Innovative Sport Medicine Clinic Medical Director, Dr. Marcus Robinson.

 About the Calgary Surge

The Calgary franchise originated as the Guelph Nighthawks in 2018, one of the six founding members of the CEBL. The organization was relocated from the league’s smallest market to Calgary in August 2022 as part of the growing league’s business strategy to have teams in Canada’s largest metropolitan areas. Chairman Usman Tahir Jutt and Vice-Chairman and President Jason Ribeiro saw an opportunity to bridge Calgary’s diverse communities together through sport and entertainment and to create a sense of belonging.
