In partnership with the Alberta Basketball Association, the Calgary Surge were excited to host our second offerings of our
Surge Playbook Coaches Clinics. These clinics provided coaches of all levels with unique opportunities to learn from experienced individuals coaching at the professional level.
At the Calgary Surge, we recognize the impact youth coaches have on their players, these players' lives, and their community. The goal of this clinic was to help motivate coaches and give them an exclusive opportunity to experience Calgary Surge coaching.
This year, participants learned from Coaches Dave Love and Nelson Terroba and took it back to their teams, passing on this experience to help them grow and deepen the connection to basketball in their communities.
Coach Nelson terroba's Team Composition Clinic
Former Calgary Surge Head Coach, Nelson Terroba served as the Calgary Surge's first Head Coach during their inaugural season. He guided the team to a #1 seed finish in the Western Conference (14-9 overall record was 2nd best in CEBL) and won two playoff games, the franchise's first playoff wins. Prior to his time with the Surge, Coach Nelson was Assistant Coach to the Erie BayHawks and Associate Head Coach of the Texas Legends in the NBA G-League.
Coach Dave Love's Shooting Clinic
Calgary Surge Shooting Coach, Dave Love served as a Shooting Consultant for the Calgary Surge for their inaugural season. He was also the Shooting Coach for four (4) different NBA teams, and for the Ignite of the NBA G-League. Coach Dave is currently a Shooting Consultant for the Dallas Mavericks and has consulted for NCAA programs and National Federations.
